Behavior Management Picture Books

Summer is a great time to catch up on reading. Reading magazines, books, blogs, etc. Well, I just finished reading the blog post by Little Miss Kindergarten on behavior management picture books.

She has a wonderful list of books for the classroom. I have some of the titles, but she added new ones which I think would be great to use in the classroom.

This one is called, Sometimes I'm Bombaloo, it looks very interesting. It's a story about a child named Katie and how she deals with anger. It's available on amazon.com, click on the picture below to link.

There are also other titles such as,
Making Friends is an Art, and I Just Don't Like the Sound of No!

So hop on over to Little Miss Kindergarten's blog by clicking below and check out the other terrific books she has reviewed.

Enjoy your summer!

Brain Break From School

Another school year has ended. Yip-yip-yahoo! (Bittersweet memories.)

Now it's time to relax and enjoy some down time.
Here is a guilt-free drinkable dessert that I have discovered.

I am a chocolate lover.  I can eat chocolate anytime, anywhere, but the calories do add up. So I came across this wonderfully delicious tea made by The Republic of Tea Company, Strawberry Chocolate Tea. (Cuppa Chocolate Teas) Please click on the picture below to link to their website. Also, you can find their products in some stores.
Boil water, pour it in a cup, add a tea bag, let it infuse for 5 to 7 minutes. (Sometimes I microwave a cup of water for 3 minutes instead of boiling a kettle of water.) Add a little sweetener and stir. I add a squirt of Mio Liquid water enhancer, Berry Pomegranate, it's zero calories. The combination is so delicious!

Sometimes I let the tea cool and then pour it over ice, making it an iced drink.
Yum-yum-yum. Oh yeah, so good!

My other favorite from their website is Hibiscus Coconut.
The nice thing about these teas is they are caffeine-free. So you can drink them all day long!

Enjoy and relax! You deserve it!

Tanganika Wildlife Park

Tanganika Wildlife Park in Kansas is such an interesting and exciting place!

I spent the last week in Wichita, Kansas, visiting family and going to fun places.

One of the most interesting places is the Tanganika Wildlife Park. It is privately run and its goal is the conservation of animals. It houses some of the most rare and endangered species in the world and provides a hands on interaction between animals and people.

I loved petting the giraffe!

The kangaroos were so soft and friendly.

Here is my husband feeding the lemurs.

We had a fabulous time!
Wishing you the very best of everything!

High Five Hands

I love Pinterest!!!

I was browsing through Pinterest and came across Growing Kinders pin, High 5 Sight Words. Even though their post was dated 2012, I have never seen it.

I think it is a great idea for practicing sight words. Kathleen, at Growing Kinders, uses a Silhouette Cameo to cut out hands. Then she writes sight words on them and hangs them on the wall by the door. The kids high five and say the words when they go out. What a fun way to practice sight words!
You can click on the picture below to link to Growing Kinders blog.
Please read to the end of my blog to print out hand patterns.

Some of the comments on her blog had wonderful ideas! I like the idea of laminating the hands and putting a vinyl pocket on it to slip in a new words each week.

I also like the idea of adding velcro to the hands. That would make it easy to switch out the new words each week. If you have hand die cuts you can easily cut out a stack of hands.

Someone mentioned using numbers, words, letters, etc on the hands. I love all the ideas!

Since I do not have a Silhouette Cameo, I decided to make some hand patterns and a recording sheet to share with you. I made 2 small hands, left and right. Also, 2 large hands, left and right hand patterns. You can choose the ones that fit your needs.

I made a recording sheet, left hands, right hands, and mixed hands if you would like your students to practice writing the words, numbers, etc. on paper after they high five them.

Print them out on colored paper, construction paper, card stock, cut them out and laminate them. Choose any of the ways explained above to use your hands.

Please click on any picture below to print out black and white copies. All copies or attached together in one PDF file.                     SAMPLE

Have a wonderful day!

South America

Wow! What a trip!

My husband and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary in Brazil, Argentina, and Chile. We were on a tour for the past 17 days and returned yesterday.

It was a wonderful trip!  Lots of great memories, new friends, and fabulous food! It was definitely different than where we live in California.

My favorite part of our trip was Iguazu Falls. We got to see the Brazil and Argentina side of the falls. It was so beautiful and absolutely amazing!

Here are a few pictures.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!
M-O-T-H-E-R
"M" is for the million things she gave me,
"O" means only that she's growing old,
"T" is for the tears she shed to save me,
"H" is for her heart of purest gold;
"E" is for her eyes, with love-light shining,
"R" means right, and right she'll always be,
Put them all together, they spell "MOTHER,"
A word that means the world to me.
-Howard Johnson

Happy Mother's Day!
