I Lost a Tooth!

When you least expect it a child will lose one of his/her baby teeth at school.  What does the teacher do with the tooth?
First, the teacher praises the child because he/she has lost a baby tooth and now a permanent tooth will grow in its place.  The teacher reassures the child they are growing up and this is normal.  Next, the teacher has the child rinse out his/her mouth with water to clean the tooth area.

The teacher encouragingly looks at the child that is holding the tooth in his/her hand and says,
"Let's put your tooth in the I Lost a Tooth! keepsake envelope."
On the backside of the envelope the teacher and the child write how the tooth was lost.  Carefully the teacher puts the tooth into the envelope and seals it shut.

The child stands in front of the class and shares how the tooth came out, how it feels to lose a tooth, and what he/she is going to do with the tooth when he/she gets home.  Everyone claps!

The teacher smiles, hugs the child and says, "You did a great job.  Now you get to wear this really cool I Lost a Tooth! wristband.  Pick out your favorite color and I will put it around your wrist."

The child picks out purple.  Yay!  Everyone knows that child loves purple.  Everyone claps and cheers!  The child smiles.  It has been a wonderful day!
