Summer Vacations

The beginning of school is just around the corner.

Stores are having marvelous back to school sales.

Blog posts are promoting fabulous giveaways.

Kids are getting excited . . . and their parents are breathing a sigh of relief.

Summer vacations are ending and new beginnings will be starting.

My husband and I just got back from our summer vacation in Costa Rica. It was beautiful, exciting, interesting, but sometimes a bit humid for me. All in all a lovely trip.

Here I am relaxing at the hotel.

A wonderful visit to the Poas Volcano. I loved hiking to the volcano and then around the adjoining lake.

During our river cruises we saw white face monkeys, macaws, toucans, howler monkeys, crocodiles, and much more. It was fabulous!

Yes, that's me, enjoying zip-lining through the tropical forest! At the end of the line I got to show off by swinging upside down on the Tarzan rope.

They even have dinosaurs in Cost Rica. LOL!

Stages Of Eating Ice Cream

Summer = Ice Cream!
After a long summer's hot day there is nothing better than eating ice cream to soothe the body.

I could eat ice cream for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. . . but that probably would not be a good idea.
My favorite ice cream is : Death by Chocolate. (Yum and well said.)

My New Sneakers

I LOVE wearing sneakers!

Why?

Because they feel so comfy on my feet. My sneakers have a soft cushion that makes me feel like I'm walking on air. My feet feel snug. I can run, climb, walk, skip, and even dance at a moment's notice without worrying about my feet.

This last weekend I went to the Skechers store and bought two more pairs of sneakers. Call me crazy, but I really enjoy wearing them as much as kids do.

So of course I had to write a song about "My New Sneakers" to go along with the children's book I wrote, "The Perfectly Purple Sneakers."

I'm so blessed to have a wonderful son who is a musician. He helped me with the music and together we recorded the song. He has a terrific voice - so he sings the lead and I sing the backup on the chorus.

If you have a few moments put on your sneakers and do a happy dance. Spring is here and the birds are chirping! (New beginnings!)

Free Egg-Shaped Spring Bunny

Spring is in the air! Yay!

I came across an egg-shaped bunny on the blog Kindergarten's 3 R's by Michaele Sommerville. It was so cute I repined it on Pinterest. Teachers loved it! But it didn't have a template or pattern to make the bunny, only directions. So to help out my teacher friends I made a template. Tacky the Penguin

What is it that makes Tacky the Penguin so adorable?

It's because he is odd, he's not like everyone else. He's not afraid to be himself. He does his own thing! He is happy! He is brave! And he loves his friends.

I really enjoy reading the original story over and over, year after year. It makes me laugh and want to do something silly. There are lots of additional Tacky adventures, but I think the first one is the best.

Tacky is an odd bird. Not at all like the other neat, sleek, tasteful penguins. He is a bit eccentric with his splashy cannonballs, unusual dress, and loud hearty greetings. But at the end of the day it is Tacky's annoying behaviors that save all the penguins from the terrible hunters.
